Welcome

The NERC-funded PATAGON project aims to develop a new regional network of proxy archives and create quantitative climate reconstructions for southern South America spanning the last ~2000 years, based on the multi-proxy palaeoecological and geochemical analysis of the Sphagnum-dominated peat deposits of southern Patagonia.

To find out more about the PATAGON project, read the project description.

As a collaborative project, PATAGON is able to draw on the expertise of scientists from the number of top UK universities, including: Aberdeen, Southampton, Plymouth and Swansea. In addition, this team will also enjoy support from international project partners in France, the Netherlands, Argentina and the USA.
